Lord, Who Throughout These Forty Days

A Hymn for Lent

Lord, who throughout these forty days, For us did fast and pray, Teach us with Thee to mourn our sins, And close by Thee to stay. As Thou with Satan did contend, And did the vict'ry win, O give us strength in Thee to fight, In Thee to conquer sin. As Thou didst hunger and didst thirst, So teach us, gracious Lord, To die to self, and only live By Thy most holy word. And through these days of penitence, And through Thy Passion-tide, For evermore, in life and death, Jesus, with us abide. Abide with us, that so, this life Of suffering overpast, An Easter of unending joy We may attain at last!

Ways to serve during Lent:

Alms-Giving

Our goal is to raise enough money ($5,500) for 40 beds. SHP will come to CTK with all tools and materials needed for a parish-wide work day to build the beds! Antonio Carballo is the main contact for questions. More info to come!

Donate to Sleep in Heavenly Peace via tithe.ly with “SHP bed fund” in memo line. You can also write a check with the notation on the memo line and place it in the offertory basket.

Twin Bed-in-a-Bag Donations: Amazon, Walmart, Target

The Eve of Lent

Join us for pancakes and sausage on the eve of Lent, aka Shrove Tuesday, aka Fat Tuesday. Click the image to RSVP so we have enough stacks to go around!

To dust you shall return.

We begin this penitential season on February 18th - Ash Wednesday. On this first day of Lent we offer three services to receive ashes:

8:30 AM, NOON, 6:30 PM

6:30 PM is our principal service; childcare offered for 6 months - 2 years only.

Weekly Community

Come together to share a weekly Lent-friendly simple meal. Bring a meatless appetizer to share. No desserts, please. The meal ends with teaching from a different member of our community each week.

No RSVP is required. If everyone in attendance brings a food item to share, we should have enough to go around. Thank you!

These meals will be on the (5) Wednesdays of Lent beginning on February 25th.

There are two options to participate in after the Lenten Suppers during Lent:

1. A class on Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s “Life Together” from 6-7PM in Dorsett Hall. Please purchase a copy of this book here.

2. A time of penitential prayer in the Nave from 6-7PM.
